On-site Requirements: First 6 months will require 5 days per week on-site. After the 6 month acclimation period, this will switch to a hybrid 2 days on-site / 3 days remote per week.
Onboarding Process: We conduct a standard background check and drug screen for all of our consultants.
Position Summary:
The Clinical Systems Analyst II supports the implementation, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of clinical information systems, with a primary focus on Ambulatory Services. This role bridges clinical operations and IT, ensuring AthenaOne (athenahealth) solutions effectively support workflow efficiency, patient care delivery, and organizational objectives.
We need a Tier 2 SME type of skillset. Candidates don’t necessarily have to have Athena experience but needs to have at least 5+ years of solid ambulatory systems analyst experience.
Key Responsibilities / Job Duties:
Clinical Systems Support & Maintenance
Provide ongoing support for AthenaOne, including template updates, order sets, user profiles, access controls, integrations, and interfaces
Deliver end-user training for physicians, residents, and clinical/non-clinical staff
Serve as a primary resource for application troubleshooting and help desk support, including participation in on-call rotation
Implementation & Optimization
Coordinate and support system implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and optimizations
Develop and execute test plans, including functional, integration, and usability testing
Create detailed test scenarios and datasets, and review results with leadership
Identify system improvement opportunities and recommend enhancements aligned with best practices
Workflow Analysis & Process Improvement
Analyze, document, and redesign clinical workflows to improve system efficiency
Evaluate the impact of system changes and educate staff on new functionality and releases
Partner with informatics teams to optimize clinical processes and system utilization
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Act as a liaison between IT, clinical departments, vendors, and end users
Collaborate with report writers to support report development and data needs
Participate in technology evaluations, system selections, and integration efforts
Project & Operational Support
Lead or contribute to multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely delivery
Prioritize tasks and respond effectively to urgent operational needs
Travel to multiple sites as needed to support workflow analysis and system adoption
Maintain clear and effective documentation and communication across all stakeholders
Position Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting ambulatory systems is required (AthenaOne /athenahealth experience is preferred, not required)
Proven experience with Ambulatory EHR system implementations, upgrades, and workflow optimization
Strong understanding of ambulatory clinical workflows and operations
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Experience handling confidential patient and organizational data with discretion
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with project management and presentation tools preferred
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
