GNC is seeking a Associate Manager, Scientific Affairs to support the GNC Global Scientific Affairs team by managing activities including, but not limited to, clinical validation of select GNC products, evaluation of scientific literature to identify new structure function claims, claims substantiation, support for product improvements & modernization as well as other Research & Development (R&D) activities and internal and external R&D partnership management.


What You’ll Do:

This is a Full-Time Salary Position

  • Supports the development of 3-year innovation and product development roadmap, including product improvements and new product development, working in close collaboration with cross-functional partners to drive incremental sales.
  • Regularly interfaces with ingredient, packaging and technology vendors through virtual or in-person meetings.
  • Supports the review of new products, ingredients, technologies, packaging options and services offered by external vendors and partners to determine viability and applications for GNC.
  • Tracks and reports on ingredient and technology capabilities from external vendors via GNC system.
  • Monitor trends observed from product component suppliers, packaging and scientific research that could result in product improvements and/or new product innovation.
  • Fosters strong relationships with partners (internal and external) relevant to team activities.
  • Clearly communicates how proposals to pursue product improvements, partnerships and innovation tie to consumers’ needs and GNC business priorities.
  • Develops highly productive cross-functional relationships with internal partners including Product Development, Brand Management, business units, Marketing, Compliance, Quality Control, and other teams to drive efficiency through the product development and marketing processes.
  • Supports team members through label review and approval process.
  • Contribute ingredient and product expertise to content creation efforts for internal communication, product detail pages on GNC.com, brand toolkits, blogs, etc.
  • Supports the international business unit by collecting and reporting on international ingredient compliance and supporting international formulation needs
  • Additional duties as assigned


Environmental Factors & Working Schedule:

  • Hybrid work environment, 2-3 days in-person attendance (Pittsburgh, PA) in addition to ability to work remotely.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands or fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear
  • Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include long periods of computer screen usage, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Food Science or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) Credential preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience preferred
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business and consumer-centric opportunities
  • Strong nutrition and research expertise
  • International product experience preferred
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning)
  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting
