Associate General Manager & Wine Educator

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant General Manager to join the leadership team at Putnam's vine/yard. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual with a strong background in hospitality management, exceptional organizational skills, and a passion for creating an outstanding guest experience. As an Assistant General Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing daily operations, supporting staff development, and ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of all aspects of the business. This position requires a proactive approach, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to manage diverse responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.


Human Resources & Administration:

  • Oversee resume review, phone screening, and applicant tracking processes.
  • Manage hiring documentation, including Docusign and setting up payroll procedures.
  • Administer employee onboarding (Slack, Square additions, employee profiles).
  • Handle employee termination logistics, including payroll, internal systems, and key management.
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities for the team.
  • Act as a liaison for legal matters and WRJ Downtown Business representation.

Operational Management:

  • Conduct AM/PM weekly menu maintenance.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with allergen regulations, alongside GM
  • Manage maintenance communication and coordinate with supply sources.
  • Oversee bagel operations
  • Waste log management.
  • Conduct health spot checks and maintain DLL and incident reporting.
  • Manage Square support and issue control.
  • Oversee ServSafe management, with GM
  • Support brunch operations, mimosa flavors, and weekend meet up communications.
  • Manage travel logistics and overnights for team as needed.
  • Maintain and edit BOH & FOH checklists.
  • Input purchase logs.
  • Support adding retail items and Book & Bottle products into Square, including printing retail stickers.
  • Menu reset tasks, create calendar and spreadsheet workflows, support edits and copy, schedule cleanings, and print/compile documents (recipes, allergens, plating, flight matrix, menus).
  • Cafe Ordering and Management

Sales & Events Management:

  • Create sales targets and maintain ownership of Tripleseat platform.
  • Train leadership team on Tripleseat functionality and inquiry handling/logging.
  • Build all event packages, templates, automatic reminders, and follow-up sequences.
  • Set monthly reporting benchmarks for inquiries, conversion rates, and average event size.

Marketing & Communications:

  • Assist with social media via Meta Suite (posting, responding to messages).
  • Develop a photo and asset library, including scheduling quarterly styled shoots.
  • Coordinate and book pop-up events (e.g., bookfairs, plant swaps) and vendors (e.g., Katie the Bagel Lady, Hat Bar).
  • Maintain weekly meet-ups and book quarterly music events.
  • Ensure all private events, pop-ups, and programming are accurately reflected on internal and external calendars.


Schedule: Thursday - Sunday 12 PM - 8 PM or Wednesday - Thursday, Saturday - Sunday 12 PM - 8 PM (32 hours/week / $55,000 a year)

Required: WSET 3 or equivalent in Wine.
