The Role Responsibilities

Job Summary

Assist in originating, structuring, analyzing, and execution of syndicated loans, primarily US property-level commercial real estate debt.

Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Deliver on the Financing Solutions (FS) Americas mandate as part of the broader Global Credit Markets platform.

Business

  • Prepare financial models, credit memos, documentation (term sheets, concept papers), and syndication materials to support contemplated transactions primarily related to Commercial Real Estate (CRE);
  • Assist Senior Transactor(s) on the origination, structuring, and execution of customized solutions for CRE clients in the Americas;
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities for other product partners, including capital markets, derivatives;
  • Support in the execution and monitoring of CRE transactions, working closely with CRE Industry Team, Syndications, Client Managers, Loan Processing/Documentation Units, Compliance, and Legal.
  • Ensure that CRE transactions conform to the relevant internal system protocols, Product Underwriting Standards, Product Programs, and all other bank policies and procedures;
  • Develop overall knowledge of CRE industry, regulations, and guidelines, via market research reports, trainings, client/investor meetings, and attendance of industry events.

Processes

  • Manage internal processes (including operation of internal deal management systems, drafting deal overviews for credit and/or business approval, among others).
  • Responsible over assigned transactions (Portfolio Management); constant observance of Group's internal policies and requirements to assure transactions compliance and, if necessary, proceed with appropriate changes.

  • Contribute to skills development of IGs and Summer Interns

Risk Management

  • Minimize risk to the bank through deal structuring and portfolio management
  • Assume accountability for credit risk of FS customers and ensuring a continuous dialogue with relationship managers and relevant support areas to ensure that they are monitored and controlled.
  • Ensure business model adheres to SCB values and behaviours

  • Adherence to Group's policies and procedures

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 3-5 yrs of experience in commercial real estate financing and/or investment banking, with a focus on underwriting, execution, and/or portfolio management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Commercial Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or Business, preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Lending Products ie. Loan syndications; Term loans and RCFs, participations; knowledge of corporate finance and capital markets structuring techniques, and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team of professionals
  • Strong financial modelling (Excel and ARGUS), credit assessment, market research, and analytical skills
  • Experience working and collaborating with internal and external counsel, loan operations, documentation, and funding teams, portfolio management, and agency
  • Understanding of CRE loan documentation principles, relevant covenant monitoring, valuation and other third party reports
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, detail-orientedness, and ability to manage time well and function independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Expected annual base pay range for the role is 123,000 USD to 229,000 USD. The final offer will be determined on an individualised basis using a number of variables, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and education, internal relativity, and specific work location. At Standard Chartered Bank, Base pay is only part of the total compensation package.
