Associate Chemist - Fuels, Lubes and Oilfield

The Role: 

As the Associate Chemist, reporting to the Director - Application Lab, Fuels, Lubes, Oilfield & Coatings, you will be responsible for running application testing, perform typical characterization, and solving quality control product issues under the direction of a Lead Chemist.  Additionally, you will be responsible for supporting aspects of development of new products, procedures, and test methods with minimal daily supervision.

How You Will Make an Impact: 

R&D - New Product Development, Product Application Testing, Customer Support

  • Works with a Chemist, Lead Chemist or direct manager to conduct research and develop new products or troubleshoot problems of existing products.

  • Conduct flow assurance and fluid flow separation product application testing for in-house and benchmark products and organize the data in a clear and concise manner which can be deciphered easily for data analytics purposes.

  • Conduct fuels and lubricant application testing for in-house and benchmark products and organize the data in a clear and concise manner which can be deciphered easily for data analytics purposes.

  • Conduct routine analytical qualitative and quantitative chemical and physical testing.

  • Evaluate materials for compliance to standards and specifications.

  • Assists in the maintenance, calibration, and repair of laboratory equipment.

  • Is able to handle multiple assignments 

  • Is able to suggest alternative approaches within the scope of the experiment or project/process.

  • Report results effectively in a timely fashion

  • Maintain legible, neat and organized laboratory notebooks to thoroughly document their work.

  • Assist as directed in all areas of the lab function.

  • Adhere to company EH&S regulations, SI Group Responsible Care practices and ISO 9000 programs

  • Ensure all R&D operations are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures and are in compliance with relative laws and regulations.

 

Creating Extraordinary Starts With:

  • BS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or any physical sciences with at least 3 years related industrial experience

  • MS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or any physical sciences with at least 1 year related industrial experience
