Associate Attorney – Landlord-Tenant (New York)

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our growing legal team, with a focus exclusively on landlord-tenant matters. This position involves representing landlords and property management companies in the Bronx and Westchester, handling a high-volume caseload in Housing Court.


Key Responsibilities

  • Represent landlords and management companies in Housing Court proceedings across Bronx and Westchester counties
  • Handle all aspects of landlord-tenant litigation, including:
  • Non-payment proceedings
  • Holdover cases
  • Commercial landlord-tenant matters
  • Department of Housing Preservation and Development (DHPD) proceedings
  • Section 8 matters
  • Rent-stabilized and rent-controlled cases
  • Cases involving squatters
  • Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, stipulations, and discovery materials
  • Appear regularly in Housing Court for hearings, conferences, and trials
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
  • Work closely with General Counsel on litigation strategy and case management


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the New York State Bar (or pending admission)
  • 0–5 years of experience preferred, particularly in landlord-tenant or housing law
  • Strong legal writing and drafting skills
  • Excellent oral advocacy and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior legal or legal administrative experience is a plus


Work Environment

  • Full-time, in-office position
  • Location: 1133 Westchester Avenue, Suite N222, White Plains, NY 10605
  • Regular travel to Housing Courts in the Bronx and Westchester required
