Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Attorney or Patent Agent to join our Herndon, VA office. This position is ideal for third-year law students graduating in 2026, recent graduates, patent agents, or attorneys with at least 0-5 years of experience who have technical background in electrical engineering


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze newly assigned and existing matters, ensuring effective legal representation from initiation to conclusion.
  • Draft, review, and finalize legal documents in accordance with Firm procedures.
  • Conduct thorough legal research using all available resources, including legal databases and libraries.
  • Provide well-founded legal opinions and strategic counsel to clients.
  • Conduct negotiations, where appropriate, to effectively resolve client matters.


Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the DC and/or VA state bar (or eligibility to sit for the bar exam upon graduation).
  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.


Billable Hours:

This position offers a total of 1,900 billable hours, which may be adjusted on a case-by-case basis depending on experience and education.
