Associate Attorney

Musick, Peeler & Garrett
Los Angeles, CA

Musick, Peeler & Garrett is a full-service law firm with a deep bench in complex commercial disputes. Our litigation team represents clients across state and federal courts as well as in domestic and international arbitration proceedings.

We are seeking an Associate Attorney with 2–5 years of experience to join our Commercial Litigation practice. This role offers direct involvement in a wide range of domestic and international commercial disputes — providing the kind of substantive, high-level work that accelerates career growth. This Associate may practice out of our Los Angeles or Orange County office.

This Associate will take on meaningful responsibility from day one, managing key aspects of active cases while working closely with experienced partners and gaining exposure to arbitration and mediation alongside traditional court litigation. Manage and conduct discovery in complex commercial matters. Draft dispositive and procedural motions in state and federal court. Perform legal research and prepare briefs, memoranda, and other substantive filings. Support and participate in arbitration and mediation proceedings. Take and defend depositions. Develop and maintain client relationships. Assume increasing responsibility for case strategy and day-to-day case management.

They must possess a strong academic background, California Bar membership in good standing is required.

Qualified candidates will have demonstrated skill in discovery management, motion practice, legal research, and brief writing. Familiarity with arbitration and mediation procedures. Deposition experience is a plus. Strong organizational skills and a readiness to own their work product and client interactions.

This is a chance to build a broad and sophisticated practice. Associates in this role gain hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of commercial disputes — from pre-arbitration strategy through trial and award enforcement — in both domestic and international settings. This role will offer an Associate a platform to grow as a well-rounded disputes lawyer.

The firm offers competitive compensation and a full benefits package including eligibility for a year-end discretionary bonus. The yearly salary range is between $180,000–$215,000 depending on experience. There is some flexibility regarding a hybrid schedule.
