Role Description The Associate Attorney will be a full-time, on-site role based in Hoover, AL. This attorney will manage a caseload of personal injury matters, including car accidents, 18-wheeler accidents, wrongful death, and related claims, from intake through resolution. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting factual and legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement demands, and communicating regularly with clients, opposing counsel, insurers, medical providers, and other stakeholders. The role involves attending hearings, mediations, depositions, and, when necessary, trials, under the guidance of senior attorneys. The Associate Attorney will also participate in case strategy discussions, negotiate settlements, and help maintain organized case files and accurate documentation in the firm’s case management systems.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active member of the Alabama State Bar in good standing
  • 2 years of experience in personal injury law preferred
  • Strong legal writing, research, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and client communication abilities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to follow established workflows while proactively identifying improvements
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and client-service orientation, with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Hoover, AL, collaborate with a team, and participate in firm meetings and case reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct onboarding meetings with clients and provide guidance throughout the life of the case
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, demand packages, settlement documents, and legal correspondence
  • Conduct legal research and assist with developing case strategies
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on litigation strategy and trial preparation
  • Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, court appearances, and trial preparation as needed
  • Coordinate medical treatment and order medical records and billing documentation
  • Review and assess case details, evidence, medical records, and supporting documentation
  • Communicate with insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, courts, medical providers, and expert witnesses
  • Prepare and submit insurance claims and supporting materials, assist with settlement negotiations
  • Ensure deadlines, case requirements, and workflows are properly maintained
  • Collaborate closely with other attorneys, legal assistants, and staff to move cases efficiently toward resolution
  • Perform additional responsibilities delegated by senior attorneys as needed
