Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney that is able to work independently in a small office environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work across a diverse range of legal practice areas, including criminal defense, personal injury, civil litigation and employment law. The Associate Attorney will be responsible for handling interacting with clients, providing comprehensive legal support, conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, drafting briefs and assisting with court appearances. This position is ideal for a motivated attorney with one to seven years of experience who is interested in working on a variety of interesting and sometimes high-profile criminal and civil cases. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw to support case strategies across various practice areas
- Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, and correspondence
- Assist in case preparation by organizing evidence, preparing discovery requests and responses, and managing case files
- Represent clients in Superior Court and Municipal Courts mainly in Passaic County, Bergen County and northern New Jersey
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the NJ state bar is required
- Demonstrated experience or strong interest in criminal defense and civil litigation
- Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear and persuasive legal drafting
- Strong negotiation skills to advocate effectively on behalf of clients
- Ability to work and complete assigned tasks independently
- Judicial clerkship preferred but not required
