Role Description

Finch & Hammer LLP is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its growing team in Beverly Hills. This opportunity is ideal for an ambitious early-career attorney who wants hands-on mentorship, substantive case involvement, and long-term growth within a boutique law firm environment.

The Associate Attorney will support matters involving claims management, insurance coverage, bad faith claims, construction defect litigation, real estate disputes, as well as pre-loss advisory consulting work. From the beginning, this person will have direct exposure to partners and clients. At first the role will be more training by the partners as well as outside counsel. Pretty soon, the training wheels will be removed and the Associate Attorney will be expected to operate semi-autonomously and play a key party in growing the firm by adding and training more attorneys.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, and legal memoranda
  • Assisting with insurance coverage analysis and claim strategy
  • Supporting bad faith and recovery matters
  • Participating in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation
  • Reviewing contracts related to construction and risk allocation
  • Working on real estate and business-related disputes
  • Managing matters proactively from intake through resolution
  • Collaborating closely with firm leadership in an in-office team environment

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active California Bar admission
  • Candidates awaiting bar results or scheduled to sit for the bar may be considered for exceptional profiles
  • 0–3 years of litigation experience preferred
  • Strong legal writing, research, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of civil procedure and litigation process
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through
  • Motivated, coachable, and eager to grow in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in risk management, real estate, construction litigation and insurance matters
  • Ability to work onsite in Beverly Hills at least four days per week (remote Fridays)

What We Offer

  • Direct mentorship from experienced attorneys and firm leadership
  • Real responsibility and substantive legal work early in your career
  • Exposure to multiple practice areas with sophisticated matters
  • Growth opportunity within an expanding boutique platform
  • Entrepreneurial culture where your contributions are visible and valued
  • Collaborative in-office environment with flexibility on Fridays
  • Opportunity to help build something differentiated in the legal market

Compensation

  • Salary targeted from $150,000 – $250,000, depending on experience and overall fit
  • Compensation is flexible for exceptional candidates
  • Additional benefits package available upon request
