About the Role
Miller Berger, LLC, is seeking a talented Attorney, who aspires to learn and grow in the corporate and commercial litigation law arena, to join our team in Arlington Heights. The ideal candidate will litigate cases and resolve legal disputes on behalf of clients by developing agreements, negotiating contacts, and advocating for clients in court. This individual will build client relationships and provide an excellent customer experience for our clients.
Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and draft pleadings and discovery, providing clear and timely updates to clients
- Review and summarize relevant records and conduct factual investigations
- Perform legal research and develop case evaluations, briefs, and motions
- Take and defend depositions, including preparing clients and witnesses
- Communicate with clients regarding discovery, depositions, trial preparation, and case progress
- Make regular court appearances for status hearings, discovery and dispositive motions, and pre-trial conferences
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff on case strategy and trial preparation
Qualifications
- 2 years of corporate and commercial litigation, ideally with insurance defense background.
- Licensed to practice in Illinois
- Licensed to practice in Indiana and/or Wisconsin is a plus
Required Skills
- Strong drafting and review skills for contracts, corporate documents, motions, and briefs
- Proficiency in legal research and motion practice
- Experience managing all phases of fact and expert discovery
- Ability to conduct and defend depositions confidently
- Comfortable using legal technology and office software tools
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
