This position will assist the women’s basketball coaching staff in day-to-day operations with the program, including but not limited to coaching, player development, recruiting, scouting, academic support, and general operations within NCAA rules. In addition, this position will support the athletic department in areas related to facility and event management.
Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree Required; Master's Degree preferred.
Required Experience
- Two to four years of previous coaching, playing, and/or teaching experience.
- Previous administration/management experience.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions
Assistant Women's Basketball Coach:
- Assist in planning and execution of practice sessions that feature the education of student-athletes (SAs) in the development of techniques, skills and theory of the sport.
- Attend all games, both home and away, and provide bench-coaching.
- Attend all practices in-person and assist the head coach in required team/individual skill development
- Identify and evaluate prospective student-athletes (PSAs) who are good fits for the university athletically, academically and socially; communicating with PSAs and families; processing official and unofficial visits while communicating through the completion of necessary admissions and university documents.
- Assist the head coach with SAs personnel meetings
- Monitor the conditioning and training of team members in conjunction with athletic trainers.
- Comprehend and operate by standards set forth in the NCAA and APU Manuals, while working cooperatively with university coaches, staff, faculty, and community members.
- Aid in education and enforcement of NCAA rules as they relate to documentation and input of information in JumpForward and the NCAA Institutional Request List (IRL).
- Aid in the discipleship and mentoring of SAs by meeting in-person with players on a regular basis.
- Attend required department meetings and NCAA rules presentations.
- Assist with team travel arrangements.
- Aid in academic support of SAs
- Assist staff in fundraising, alumni relations, community outreach.
- Assist in supervision of team equipment.
- Assist in transportation of team as needed for off campus events.
Facilities & Events Coordinator:
- Direct department scheduling of facilities.
- Prepare short and long-range planning for facility needs.
- Work with head coaches in all aspects of practice and game scheduling.
- Point of contact with Event Services to ensure proper facility reservation and approval of external events in athletic facilities.
- Create and manage master practice/game calendar
- Coordinate and manage all game contracts.
- Coordinate home game schedules with conference assignors.
Skills
- Appropriate knowledge of current thinking in areas of sport techniques and strategy, conditioning, fitness, and leadership and program management.
- Relationship building and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and minister to SAs.
- Strong communication skills: both oral and written.

- Office, indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, various weather and temperature conditions.
Technologies
- Proficient in Google Apps., Microsoft Office, Hudl, compliance software, and other sport specific web-based and/or scouting applications.
Compensation
- Grade 11: $70,304 to $73,726 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, APU offers a competitive benefits package.
