Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration, the Assistant Vice President for Public Safety (AVP) serves as the university’s chief public safety officer, providing strategic direction, executive leadership, and full authority over all sworn law enforcement services and special operations. The AVP ensures the enforcement of criminal and traffic laws, regulations, and ordinances to safeguard life, health, and property across the institution. This AVP oversees the full scope of public safety operations, including Investigations, Special Operations, Intelligence, Records, Communications, Professional Standards, Training, Support Services, Emergency Management, Campus Access and Security, and the Public Safety Operations Center. With six direct reports, a staff of 135, and a budget of $25.5 million dollars, the AVP leads both the operational and administrative functions of a complex and highly visible division. This leader utilizes a comprehensive, forward-looking strategy to strengthen safety, security, technology integration, and emergency management in response to the evolving needs of the campus community.
