L.F. Jennings, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. We desire candidates with 3-5 years of experience in general construction. Previous experience with multifamily work in the Central Virginia region is a plus.
The Assistant Superintendent will assist the Superintendent to oversee, lead, and manage construction projects. This includes a focus on safety, scheduling, quality control, materials management, and production.
This individual will be responsible for...
- Overseeing job site functions, including deliveries, quality control and field personnel.
- Ensuring all safety protocols are in place and being followed consistently.
- Identifying and adjusting conflicts in processes, schedules and task sequences. Evaluate possible solutions and their impact. Report recommendations to Superintendent.
- Coordination and prioritization of tasks with field personnel to ensure that schedules and timelines are maintained.
- Coordination and prioritization of tasks with subcontractors to ensure that scope, schedules and timelines are maintained.
- Meeting with foremen and subcontractors as needed to stay on track and address any issues.
- Maintaining knowledge/understanding of construction plans, drawings, and contract documents for each project.

- Bachelor's Degree or Trade School experience in construction management, construction science, civil engineering or related field.
- Have prior experience as an assistant superintendent and/or building trade experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to function well while in a stressful environment.

- Extremely detail oriented.
- Good understanding of legal requirements relating to construction and building sites.
- Good understanding of quality building practices.

- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
- Climbing ladders and stairs, stooping, bending, long periods of standing may be necessary.
- May need to lift moderately heavy items (40 lbs. or more).
