STAGES St. Louis is looking for an Assistant Scenic Charge Artist for our 2026 season. Start and end dates are flexible, generally from End -March to September. The Assistant Scenic Charge Artist works closely with the Scenic Charge Artist to supervise the Paint Shop.
Required skills:
- Assist with personnel management including teaching, supervising, and collaborating.
- Confident reading and interpreting renderings and painting samples to create workflows and make staffing assignments.
- Previous experience painting drops, and hard scenery is required.
Required duties:
- Paint scenic elements as directed by the Scenic Charge Artist.
- Confident in painting and texture techniques to recreate the scenic designer’s representation for all scenic units, drops, specialized prop pieces, and the theatre space as required; Assist in supervising daily work schedule of the paint staff in shop; Perform any repairs or alterations.
Working conditions may include nights and weekends, and some overtime as needed.
