Role Description
This is a full-time role for a bilingual (English / Cantonese) Assistant Property Manager based in San Francisco, CA. The Assistant Property Manager will assist with daily operations and maintenance of an assigned portfolio of small and mid-size properties, ensuring compliance with tenant agreements and local regulations. Responsibilities include assisting our property managers in leasing, managing tenant relations, coordinating repairs and maintenance, preparing reports, ensuring properties maintain value. This role requires maintaining strong communication with the property manager, owners and residents, specifically handling communication with residents at multiple properties where Cantonese is the primary language of the household.
Qualifications and Core Duties
· Desire to learn residential and commercial property management, including tenant relations and lease administration.
· Experience in the San Francisco rental market, especially with small to midsize buildings helpful but not required
· Willingness to learn San Francisco's rent control ordinance, fair housing laws, and applicable property regulations
· Proficiency in English and Cantonese
· Open and review all incoming mail for the portfolio
· Review and code invoices for authorization and payment
· File invoices in appropriate folders for payment
· Help prepare, and occasionally serve, notices to residents;
· Set up necessary repair or other work as approved by property manager including providing keys and access for vendors or contractors
· Assist in the preparation of rent board filings and petitions
· Run credit reports and background checks of applicants, providing information to property manager
· Upload and update apartment advertising as approved by property manager
· Participate in conducting market surveys to help property manager set appropriate rents
· Assist property manager in reviewing, preparing, and presenting property statements to the owners
· Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
· Ability to travel to properties, primarily within San Francisco
The position includes a generous base salary ranging from $30.00 to $35.00 per hour depending on experience plus benefits and expense reimbursements. Parking and fuel allowances are also included.
