Assistant Project Manager – Construction & Utilities

The Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction and utility projects from initiation through closeout. This role works closely with the Project Manager and field teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing day-to-day project activities for construction and utility projects, including scheduling, documentation, and coordination with internal teams and external partners
  • Support compliance with company policies, client requirements, and project-specific procedures
  • Promote and enforce job site safety standards in alignment with company and regulatory guidelines
  • Assist with project planning, budgeting, estimating, and cost tracking
  • Support subcontractor coordination, including onboarding, scope reviews, and performance monitoring
  • Help prepare and review project documentation such as contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and progress reports
  • Track project schedules and milestones, identifying potential risks or delays and escalating issues as needed
  • Assist with billing, invoicing, and collection activities to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Coordinate with utility providers, inspectors, and local authorities as required
  • Participate in project meetings and provide updates to the Project Manager and senior leadership
  • Support closeout activities, including punch lists, documentation, and final deliverables


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • 2–5 years of experience in construction and/or utility project support or coordination. Experience with transformers and substation builds preferred.
  • Familiarity with utility infrastructure projects (electric, gas, water, telecom, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of construction processes, scheduling, and cost control
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management or construction software
  • Ability to work collaboratively with field personnel, subcontractors, and clients
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and professional standards
