To support the goals and objectives of the Music Department. To support the primary goals of the University (teaching, research and community) To meet the National Association of Music Accreditation requirements.
Teach Music courses in the Music Department where his/her certification applies
Recruit, audition, select and train musicians for the Grambling State University Jazz and Marching Band
Select appropriate literature, training of band personnel; copyright clearances (when appropriate and required)
Conducting performances, maintaining proper inventory records for equipment for that specific organization and scheduling of performance
Assist with recruiting of student personnel-bands
Assist with marching and band field shows, section practice, marching bands and high school bands
Supervise student arrangers and arrangement for the Marching Band
Wind and percussion Jury coordinator for the Music Department
Minimum:
Master’s degree in Music or Music Education
Experience and training as an upper brasswind teacher
A record of success as a director of middle school, high school or director of college ensembles
Background in current Music Technology Software
Preferred:
Doctorate in Music or Music Education
