Teach courses in theatre performance, stagecraft, design, and theatre appreciation both online and face-to-face. Supervise and teach student groups in the aspects of rehearsal and backstage production needs. Direct, design, and/or manage 4-5 mainstage productions per academic year. Participate in student advising, departmental and college activities, professional development, recruiting, and overall institutional support. Work collaboratively with theatre faculty as well as faculty in other areas of the Visual and Performing Arts Division. Faculty are expected to accept courses as assigned which could include non-traditional venues, such as evening, weekend, dual-credit, blended, and/or online courses. This position reports to the Division Chair, Visual & Performing Arts.

THE DEPARTMENT:
The Ball Performing Arts Center currently employs a performing arts technician. The Visual & Performing Arts Division includes Theatre, Music, Art and Commercial Music. Production facilities include proscenium arch, 2900 square-foot stage with orchestra pit in the Ball Performing Arts Center (330); black box theatre (110); 2,000 square foot scene shop, a costume shop, dance studio, classrooms, and offices. McLennan Community College is also an all-Steinway School.
SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. Professional theatrical production techniques; 2. Dramatic literature; 3. Current trends in professional and educational theatrical performance, as well as student learning theory; 4. ADA standards as they apply to instruction; Ability to: 5. Work collaboratively while maintaining and promoting professional and collegial standards of behavior; 6. Manage and collaborate with a production team and student workers; 7. Recruit, advise and retain students; 8. Maintain accurate digital production records/budget; 9. Use technology in support of productions and instruction; 10. Communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Active. Lifting (stage weights, etc., of at least 50 lbs.) Some walking, pushing, pulling and ability to climb straight ladders and spiral staircases and exposure to heights up to 70 feet on a regular basis. Unpleasant exposure to Minor Hazard; Moderate exposure to dust, fiberglass, grease, noise, inclement weather, temperature extremes, and unpleasant but not hazardous odors. Occasional exposure to risk controlled by safety precautions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in theatre from an accredited college or university
Experience: Evidence of experience in theatrical design and/or directing in a professional and/or academic setting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master’s degree in theatre from an accredited college or university
Experience: Teaching experience at a college or university
