The Department of Natural and Applied Sciences at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania seeks applicants for a tenure track position in Organic Chemistry. The successful candidate will teach the range of chemistry courses, including Organic Chemistry I and II, General Chemistry (if needed), Physical Science, and other related courses as assigned. Applicant must complete a rigorous interview process, show record of quality instruction for undergraduate students, show record of advising undergraduate students, and have some experience in grantsmanship.

PrimaryResponsibilities:

  • Teach effectively in areas as assigned and qualified.
  • Maintain a typical faculty workload, including up to twelve {12) credit hours of instruction per semester (excluding Summer). Cheyney University's courses are typically three (3) credit hours each.
  • Develop anddeliverface-to-face,hybrid,synchronous andasynchronous online instruction.
  • Collaboratewithcolleaguesincurriculumdesign, instruction,and assessmentand help createinnovativestrategies for student recruitment, retention,andcompletion.
  • Mentor, guide, and support students consistent with student needs and university policies, keepingregular office hours, supporting student organizations,and attending campus events.
  • Continue scholarly growth and professional development through various means, such as conducting scientific research, delivering papers at national and regional meetings of professional societies, participating in panels at regional and national meetings of professional organizations, editing professional journals, and acquiring grants.
  • Serve thedepartment, college, university, and community through various means, especially contributing to sharedgovernance, participation in university-widecolloquia, and serving in professional and or community organizations.
  • All other relevant duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will have a PhD degree in Organic Chemistry (post-doctoral experience is a plus) and must be capable of establishing a strong research program/experience for undergraduate students.
