GeneralAnesthesiologist Job Description:

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine,and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSOM) is experiencing a period of expansion. It isseeking exceptional candidates to join the faculty. Employment Requirements:

  • Candidates for this position should have completed aUS-approvedresidency in Anesthesiology or have obtained equivalent training and certification.

  • Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology isrequiredfor this position. (Equivalence to board certification can bedeterminedon a case-by-casebasis).

  • While research experience is notrequiredto apply for this position,it ishighlydesirable.

Job Description:

  • Generalists should feel comfortable performingvariouscases,includingorthopedics, GYN,communityOB,abdominalcases,generalvascular,andkidney transplants.GeneralistsareNOTrequiredtoperformcardiac cases ortreatsmall children (<2yearsof age). Limited skills in regionalanesthesiaand the ability to anesthetize older childrenarehelpful.

  • Applicants should becomfortablesupervising residents, CRNAs, and SRNAs.

  • Applicants should also feel comfortable performing cases on their own ifrequired.

  • Applicants should be able toparticipatein thedepartment's academic activities,including teaching and mentoring traineesandparticipatingin departmental conferencesand faculty meetings.

  • Call is expected to be 3-4 overnight calls per month(some calls may be from home). There may also be a need forevening and weekend calls.

  • Theeffortdistribution may change based on department needs,candidate’sinterests,and success in obtaining extramural grant funding.
