McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic institution in the Texas Medical Center, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track clinical faculty position in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level.

Our Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologists collaborate with the Children's Heart Program at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital (CMHH), one of the premier centers for congenital heart disease. Faculty are integral members of a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary heart team that cares for neonates, infants, children, and adults with congenital heart disease across operating rooms, cardiac catheterization laboratories, and procedural areas.

Our Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology faculty function within the Children’s Heart Institute at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, one of the premier centers for congenital heart disease. Faculty are integral members of a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary heart team that cares for neonates, infants, children, and adults with congenital heart disease across operating rooms, cardiac catheterization laboratories, and procedural areas.

About the Program:

The Children’s Heart Institute provides comprehensive care for a broad spectrum of congenital and acquired heart disease and serves as a major referral center for:

• The Fetal Center at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital

• UT-affiliated pediatric cardiology clinics throughout the Greater Houston area

• Neonatal ICUs at Children’s Memorial Hermann, Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital, UTMB Galveston, the Women’s Hospital of Texas, and other regional hospitals

Our division emphasizes team-based care, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement to optimize outcomes for patients and families. Faculty work closely with pediatric cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists, perfusionists, nurses, and advanced practice providers in a collegial and supportive environment.

Position Key Accountabilities:

The successful candidate will:

• Deliver high-quality perioperative anesthetic care to children with congenital heart disease

• Participate in multidisciplinary collaboration and shared clinical decision-making

• Contribute to a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous learning

• Engage in the teaching of residents, fellows, and other learners

• Pursue academic interests aligned with clinical excellence, education, quality improvement, or research

Qualifications:

• MD or equivalent degree

• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Anesthesia fellowship

• Additional fellowship training or substantial experience in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology

• Board certification in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology (ABA)

• Demonstrated current clinical competence in the independent care of children with congenital heart disease within the last 12 months
