Assistant Produce Manager

Position Summary
The Assistant Produce Manager supports the Produce Manager in overseeing daily operations of the produce department to ensure high standards of freshness, presentation, inventory control, and customer service. This role assists with merchandising, associate supervision, ordering, and sanitation while helping drive sales and operational efficiency.

• Assist in managing daily produce department operations, including stocking, rotation, and presentation
• Ensure product freshness, quality standards, and proper FIFO rotation are consistently maintained
• Support ordering, receiving, inventory control, and shrink reduction processes
• Maintain department cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards at all times
• Help execute merchandising plans, planograms, and seasonal displays
• Assist with training, coaching, and supervising produce associates
• Ensure associates follow safe work practices and proper handling procedures
• Monitor backroom organization and cooler conditions
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with product selection and inquiries
• Step into Produce Manager duties when assigned or in their absence
• Communicate effectively with store leadership regarding sales, labor, and operational needs

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• One or more years of produce or grocery experience preferred
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Knowledge of produce handling, rotation, and food safety standards
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent bending, reaching, and standing
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
