The Cardiovascular and Vascular Surgery Intensive Care Units specialize in the post-operative acute care of patients recovering from heart surgery, open and endovascular thoracic and abdominal aneurysm repairs, and a wide range of thoracic and vascular surgical procedures. All post-operative patients arrive directly from the operating room, where they are recovered, stabilized, weaned, and extubated, and the units also accept complex transfers from other facilities, including patients experiencing surgical complications or requiring advanced evaluation. The ANM will support both the J64 and J65 nursing units, and as an Assistant Nurse Manager, you will provide clinical supervision, coordinate unit operations with other departmental disciplines under the direction of the Nurse Manager, ensure effective and efficient patient care for all ages on assigned shifts or as designated, and assume Nurse Manager responsibilities in his or her absence.
A caregiver in this role works a day/evening rotation from 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units.
Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts.
Coordinate patient admitting, discharges, transfers and other operational issues.
Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions and monitor attendance issues.
Interview, select and orient new caregivers.
Supervise and participate in the daily delivery of patient care.
Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.
Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes, studies and research initiatives.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
Two years of recent clinical nursing experience
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills
Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range
Minimum hourly: $39.50
Maximum hourly: $57.60
