Position Summary
The MPC Assistant Manager is responsible for learning, managing, and executing critical cross-functional operational responsibilities within the Materials & Production Control department. This position is expected to develop full working knowledge and ownership capability across Production Control, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Material Control, Shipping, Receiving, and Packaging functions.
The individual in this role must become proficient in departmental processes and be capable of independently performing and leading responsibilities typically handled by process owners when necessary. This position requires a proactive, team-oriented, and results-driven professional who can operate independently while maintaining strong adherence to company procedures and chain of command.
Key Responsibilities
Production Control
- Learn, manage, and execute production scheduling responsibilities for:
- Lamination operations
- Coater operations
- Monitor production flow and schedule adherence to ensure operational efficiency
- Coordinate with production departments to align priorities and minimize downtime
- Communicate scheduling changes, constraints, and impacts proactively
- Develop a strong understanding of capacity planning and material readiness requirements
Purchasing & Procurement
- Learn and manage purchasing and procurement processes for raw materials, supplies, and operational needs
- Work directly with suppliers and vendors to support on-time delivery and procurement efficiency
- Monitor purchase orders, delivery timelines, and supply risks
- Ensure purchasing activities support production schedules and inventory objectives
- Maintain procurement documentation and purchasing accuracy
- Improve Vendor lead times by proactively negotiating and understanding constraints
- Reduce cost
Inventory & Material Control
- Develop ownership-level understanding of inventory control and material management processes
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper transaction control and inventory practices
- Lead and support cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation activities
- Monitor inventory levels to reduce shortages, overproduction, and excess inventory
- Drive FIFO (First-In, First-Out) material usage practices
- Support reduction of aged and obsolete inventory
Shipping, Receiving & Packaging
- Learn and oversee daily shipping, receiving, and packaging operations
- Ensure accurate processing and movement of incoming and outgoing materials
- Coordinate packaging requirements and shipment preparation activities
- Verify shipping and receiving documentation for accuracy and compliance
- Support logistics coordination to meet operational and customer requirements
Cross-Functional Leadership & Development
- Become fully cross-trained in all major MPC functions and departmental processes
- Be capable of filling in for process owners and independently managing responsibilities when required
- Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, Customer Service, Engineering, Warehouse, and other departments
- Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities within department operations
- Assist with operational reporting, metrics analysis, and performance tracking
- Promote accountability, communication, and teamwork across the department

Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the MPC Manager and works closely with cross-functional department leaders to support operational performance, inventory accuracy, production continuity, and customer satisfaction.
