Job Title: Assistant Production Specialist
Job Description

The Assistant Production Specialist plays a vital role in assisting the Shift Supervisor in monitoring and inspecting the product, equipment, and processing steps from raw ingredients to finished goods. This includes ensuring production meets designed quality standards by following prescribed procedures according to company policy and federal regulations. Additionally, the Assistant will aid the Product Coordinator in transferring finished products.

Responsibilities

  • Identify different varieties of wheat and produce all products to customer specifications during shifts.
  • Observe equipment operations to ensure smooth functioning, detect malfunctions, and assist in their resolution.
  • Assist with maintenance and perform preventive inspections on milling equipment such as sifters and purifiers.
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards and maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment.
  • Ensure finished products are transferred to load-out on schedule and meet customer specifications.
  • Conduct laboratory analysis accurately and punctually, recording and verifying results.
  • Perform basic maintenance on all cleaning house equipment and assist in the repair of mill equipment.
  • Maintain ingredient feeders and ensure uninterrupted wheat flow unless instructed otherwise.
Essential Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Thorough knowledge of all mill equipment and basic maintenance needs.
  • Knowledge of different wheat varieties and grain science.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot production problems.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work with wheat products without wheat/gluten sensitivity.

Work Environment

Work in a climate-controlled environment with access to a computer lab and hands-on tasks. The schedule involves rotating 12-hour shifts from 7AM-7PM and 7PM-7AM, with a cycle of 4 days on, 4 days off, and rotation between day and night shifts.

This is a Contract position based out of Winchester, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.46 - $26.34/hr.
