SUMMARY:
Responsible for support in monitoring and delegating the daily golf course operations to departmental associates. Holding responsibility for overall golf course maintenance and management. As a key member of Whitetail Club Management Team, the Assistant Superintendent is accountable for our member and guest golf course experience.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO:
· Manage a diverse team of grounds maintenance staff, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.
· Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
· Supervise and assist golf maintenance staff in their daily duties.
· Assist in the planning, organizing and direction of the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
· Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants.
· Ensure construction equipment is properly maintained.
· Assist in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
· Keep records of annual maintenance activities, costs and assist with the preparation of required reports.
· Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors.
· Reconcile and provide timely coding of all invoices, payroll and other required documents.
· Coordinate snow removal (depending upon facility location).
· Ensure associates obtain proper licensure to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations. Addresses directly all real or perceived environmental concerns.
· Manage department members that may include, but is not limited to: Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician.
· Assure effective orientation and training for all associates, and develop ongoing training programs.
· Monitor business volume and plans accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
· Responsible for implementing and maintaining excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.
· Communicate any changes or new policies and procedures to the department.
· Conduct staff meetings with subordinates.
· Maintain flexibility to take on new and different tasks as directed.
· Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
· Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulations.
· All other duties as assigned.
Winter Job Duties
· Evaluate Equipment, support the repair and maintenance of equipment
· Continue to evaluate plant health, regularly spot check green, tees, and fairways.
· Planning fertilizer schedules and nutrient evaluations.
· Snow removal; parking lots, walk ways, amenities, fire hydrants, and utilities.
· Conduct irrigation audits, plan irrigation and drainage projects for spring.
· Maintain property drainage on the golf course and development.
· Rebuild golf course accessories; organization and storage of all related equipment.
· Product evaluation and ordering
· Continued education
· Provide winter recreation for members
· Special projects
