Assistant General Manager - Runyon Field Sports Complex

Assists the General Manager of Runyon Field Sports Complex in the routine daily operations, including but not limited to tournament management, supervision of tournaments, oversight of seasonal staff, weekend and spring training sales, sponsorship fulfillment, and coordination with registered participants. Certifies the quality and control of all baseball and softball activities in order to make certain tournaments without fail exceed expectations.

  • Assist the General Manager in scheduling and coordinating all baseball league games, tournaments, and camps, including facilitating the organization of team and player assignments. Monitor and evaluate all schedule requests made by teams for tournaments to ensure efficient and effective planning.
  • Oversee and execute baseball operations functions, including scheduling, camps, and facility maintenance, in coordination with Pueblo County Staff and the Runyon Field Sports Complex Board.
  • Creates tournament schedules for approval by the General Manager and ensures the execution of sponsorship activities related to tournament play.
  • Supervises league and tournament games, overseeing coaches, players, umpires, and parents. Monitors the progress of games and watches the weather and other conditions to ensure the safety of players and spectators. Serves as the on-site supervisor for weekend, spring training, and summer weeklong tournaments.
  • Assists in all programming, sales, and prospecting while working closely with Pueblo County Staff, Runyon Field Sports Complex Board staff, and sales staff.
  • Coordinates all participant communication with teams and individuals to ensure a positive customer experience. Interacts with coaches and parents to address and resolve any registration and participation issues.
  • Monitors timely fee payments, tracks any special needs of participants, and ensures that appropriate staff members are informed of these details.
  • Performs facility checks to ensure the venue is ready and games start on time, inspecting bathrooms, gates, press boxes, scoreboards, lights, PA system, and fields. Conducts game completion checks to ensure all systems are turned off, and the facility is locked and secure.
  • Maintains the backend registration system, including programming the calendar, managing tournament details, fulfillment materials, tournament scores, and related content.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and trains all umpires, working closely with umpire assigners to address tournament needs and scheduling. Selects and evaluates the facility umpire assignor. Orients and trains scorekeepers and announcers.
  • Works closely with all areas of facility operations, including maintenance, concessions, retail, finance, sponsorship fulfillment, and administration. Independently travels to various locations as needed.
  • Participates in BOCC meetings, Runyon Field Sports Complex board meetings, and other public meetings as required
  • Fills in as scorekeeper, announcer, or umpire as needed.
  • Assists in facility operations, including food and beverage service as needed.
  • Coordinates programs for all scholarship players.
  • Performs other duties as appropriate for performance of the job.

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalency required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, Marketing, or related field preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years or more in a sports business, operations, or related field required
  • Minimum of three (3) years or more of former collegiate or professional work in baseball and/or softball preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year or more with overseeing or coordinating tournament and/or camp operationspreferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year or more in sport management or sport-related sectors preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year or more in a managerial role or position preferred


NOTE:For preferred qualifications, the substitution of any combination of relevant and related education, training, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability may be considered, including by way of example, specific experience or skill-based qualifications that may substitute for certain educational requirements, or a combination of relevant education and experience, including supervisory experience.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:

  • Valid driver’s license at the time of hire and a valid Colorado driver’s license within 60 days of hire required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Child and Adult) Certification within 90 days of hire required
  • Automated Emergency Defibrillator (AED) Certification within 90 days of hire required
  • First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire required
