Assistant General Counsel, Real Estate

Robert Half is partnering with a well-established, nationally recognized real estate company to place an Assistant General Counsel / Deputy General Counsel on their legal team.

This is a high-impact, senior in-house role reporting directly to the General Counsel. This real estate attorney will lead complex real estate transactions across the full development lifecycle, from acquisition and joint ventures to leasing, financing, and disposition, for a growing national portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Structure, draft, and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, ground leases, joint venture agreements, and construction contracts
  • Lead legal due diligence: title, survey, and environmental
  • Support capital stack structuring, including debt and equity financing with institutional and strategic partners
  • Oversee leasing documentation and asset management legal matters for a multi-tenant national portfolio
  • Advise on corporate governance, entity formation, and risk management
  • Serve as a key deputy to the GC with the ability to step in on priority matters
  • Mentor junior legal staff and help scale the legal function

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active Florida Bar membership in good standing
  • 6+ years of experience with a focus on commercial real estate transactions, development, and joint ventures
  • A combination of top law firm and in-house experience preferred
  • Strong business judgment and the ability to balance legal risk with deal momentum
