Penick Village is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing to join our team.As Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), you will support the Director of Nursing in leading the nursing department to ensure the delivery of high-quality resident care and services.
Purpose of Job Position:
As Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), you will support the Director of Nursing in leading the nursing department to ensure the delivery of high-quality resident care and services. The ADON works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to oversee clinical operations, infection prevention, staff development, and regulatory compliance.
The ADON assists in recruiting, training, and retaining healthcare staff while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position also assumes responsibility for the Infection Prevention and Staff Development programs, ensuring education, surveillance, and continuous quality improvement are maintained.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership & Operations
•Receive and review 24-hour reports from nursing units
•Report changes in resident condition to the Director of Nursing and interdisciplinary team
•Assist in leading daily clinical or stand-up meetings
•Participate in care plan meetings and clinical reviews
•Assist with admissions, including verification of physician orders
•Monitor delivery of nursing care to ensure quality and regulatory compliance
•Perform rounds to evaluate resident care and staff performance
Infection Prevention & Control
•Oversee and implement the facility's infection prevention and control program
•Conduct surveillance, tracking, and trending of healthcare-associated infections
•Lead outbreak investigations and implement control measures
•Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, and public health reporting requirements
•Maintain infection logs and analyze infection data
•Monitor antibiotic stewardship practices and multi-drug-resistant organisms
•Conduct infection control rounds and ensure adherence to hand hygiene and PPE standards
•Collaborate with local and state health departments for reporting and guidance
Staff Development & Education
•Coordinate orientation for all new nursing staff
•Plan and implement ongoing education and in-service programs
•Ensure completion of required competencies and annual training
•Provide infection control and clinical skills training
•Track licenses, certifications, CPR, and required education
•Support development of nursing staff through coaching and mentoring
Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI)
•Participate in QAPI meetings and initiatives
•Conduct audits of clinical practices, documentation, and infection control
•Analyze trends and implement corrective actions
•Assist in developing and monitoring performance improvement plans
Staff Management & Human Resources
•Assist with recruitment, hiring, and retention of nursing staff
•Conduct employee performance evaluations
•Monitor attendance, competencies, and staff compliance
•Initiate disciplinary actions as needed
•Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet resident care needs
Regulatory Compliance & Survey Readiness
•Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
•Participate in state surveys and inspections
•Develop and implement plans of correction for deficiencies
•Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and standards
