This job serves as the Assistant Director of Multimedia Services and is responsible for the supervision and the day-to-day scheduling of a large multimedia technical support staff serving the college’s six teaching sites. Responsible for supervising the planning, procurement and installation of multimedia/audio-visual equipment including operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment. Stays current with emerging technologies including equipment, software upgrades and operating systems, and virtual platforms. Develops a shortened cycle of mandated equipment replacement. Frequently interacts with high-level governmental and college officials as well as faculty, staff and students. Reports to the Director of Multimedia Services.
This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.A bachelor’s degree in media arts, photojournalism, information services or education and entry-level work experience in a related field; or a high school diploma and journey-level work experience in a related field. Preferred experience in multimedia classroom equipment operation, installation and troubleshooting as well as supervisory experience.
Multimedia classroom technology experience in higher education is strongly desired. Must have competent skills in all phases of operation, maintenance and assessment of technical problems in multimedia classroom equipment including, but not limited to, projectors, computers, visual presenters, switchers, audio enhancements, digital cameras and playback devices. Should possess knowledge of multimedia equipment installation procedures. Must have computer skills including Excel and PowerPoint and possess the ability to interpret room technical specifications, layouts, class schedules and architectural blueprints.
