Park Hyatt Beaver Creek is seeking a strategic, hands‑on Assistant Director of Engineering to support the overall operation, safety, and performance of the Engineering Department.

As the Assistant Director of Engineering, you serve as a key operational leader supporting the Director of Engineering, guiding engineering teams, overseeing maintenance programs, and ensuring the resort’s facilities operate at the highest standards of luxury and safety. WHAT YOU’LL DO

Operational & Technical Leadership

- Support the Director of Engineering in daily department operations, long‑term planning, and team leadership.

- Oversee the execution of preventive maintenance programs, work orders, and life‑safety systems.

- Ensure all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems operate efficiently and safely.

- Conduct regular property inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and improvement opportunities.

- Respond to emergency situations and provide technical guidance to engineering staff.

Team Management & Training

- Supervise, coach, and schedule engineering team members to ensure optimal coverage and performance.

- Lead daily shift briefings, safety meetings, and technical training.

- Support hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations.

- Promote a positive, collaborative, and safety‑focused work environment.

Project & Vendor Oversight

- Assist in managing capital projects, FF&E initiatives, and renovation work.

- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure timely and compliant project execution.

- Review and submit vendor proposals, service agreements, and project scopes to the Director of Engineering.

- Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.

Administrative & Financial Responsibilities

- Support budget planning, cost control, and forecasting for departmental expenses and capital projects.

- Submit purchase orders, invoices, and vendor payments.

- Maintain accurate records for inspections, permits, compliance, and regulatory documentation.

- Ensure all Certificates of Insurance, contracts, and safety documentation are current and properly filed.

Safety, Compliance & Sustainability

- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, fire codes, and environmental standards.

- Oversee life‑safety systems, emergency procedures, and risk‑mitigation programs.

- Support sustainability initiatives, energy‑management programs, and waste‑reduction efforts.

Guest & Colleague Support

- Partner with hotel departments to address maintenance needs and support exceptional guest experiences.

- Provide timely communication and follow‑up on engineering‑related service requests.

- Uphold Hyatt’s standards of professionalism, hospitality, and care.

WHAT YOU BRING

- A passion for leadership and operational excellence in a luxury hospitality environment

- Strong technical knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and safety standards

- Proven experience supervising engineering or maintenance teams

- Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills

- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment

- High level of discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems

- Prior hotel engineering experience strongly preferred

- Certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related fields a plus

  • Minimum5+ years of progressive hotel or building management experience
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered
