Our client is hiring for an Assistant Knits Designer to join the team in New York! This is a temporary contract role. Hours are full-time.
Responsibilities:
- Create and update CADs, design boards, and presentation materials.
- Conduct research on seasonal trends, colors, patterns, fabrications, and competitive landscape, focused on women’s & men’s apparel.
- Support material, trim, and artwork development, ensuring alignment with seasonal direction.
- Work closely with cross-functional partners (Merchants, Production, Technical Design, Graphics) to ensure design feasibility, cost targets, and on-brand execution.
- Maintain design files, seasonal libraries, line sheets, and style trackers with accuracy and timeliness in the PLM system.
- Support with fittings, sample reviews, lab dips, print strike-offs, trims, and approvals throughout the development process.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in apparel design.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office; experience with PLM systems is a plus.
- Strong sense of color, proportion, and garment construction.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
