The next assistant dean and director of housing operations (assistant dean) will join a community where intellectual curiosity and artistic excellence thrive side by side. Reporting to the assistant vice president and dean of residence life and auxiliary services (assistant vice president), the assistant dean supports a vision and strategy that shapes a robust and vibrant residential community at Oberlin. They are responsible for improving housing processes and programs, staff development, housing systems management, partnership engagement, and overall improvement of the housing experience.
The assistant dean will provide leadership for the office of residence life in the absence of the assistant vice president, and have oversight of the housing operations team. As a leader, the assistant dean will empower staff to design, promote, implement, and assess residence life and division-wide programs. Oberlin has a four-year residency requirement, which tasks the assistant dean with creating a residential program that students take pride in.
Other responsibilities of the position include:
- Coordinate all operations for housing management, including operation and implementation of the StarRez housing program.
- Understand and support a residential life and housing process that meets institutional revenue goals through occupancy predictability and stability.
- Develop, lead, and assess the housing advisory team.
- Engage in program development that captures opportunities and aligns with enrollment and retention goals.
- Foster belonging, community, and personal well-being.
