JOB TITLE: Assistant Commercial Production Photographer
LOCATION: Pedricktown, New Jersey
ROLE TYPE/DURATION: Contract
COMPENSATION:$45-55/hr (commensurate with experience)
JOB SUMMARY: Looking for a Assistant Commercial Production Photographerof ‘Commercial’, 'Production’, and ‘Studio’ backgrounds. Quantity is not our priority, but image production techniques are essential for success in this role!
Detailed knowledge of modern photography techniques. Ability to work after hours when needed. Good listening and communication skills. Proficient with photo editing software including Adobe Photoshop, Capture One, Helicon and an interest and curiosity to learn more.
Possesses knowledge of:
1. High-volume techniques and use of metric target analysis;
2. Strategies for learning, understanding, and adhering to brand style and standards;
3. Project management, leadership, and self-development;
4. Data asset management tools and strategy.
To be able to carry out the following responsibilities:
1. High-volume image production techniques and use of metrics and data analysis for the achievement of targets;
2. Precision techniques for maintaining brand style guidance and standards and providing ideation for advancements of guides and standards;
3. Photograph assigned subjects to capture the desired aesthetics, number and types of images as directed by category style guides and produce high-quality images at targeted rates of production.
4. Take an active participatory role to; self-assign project management initiatives by daily priority, lead with your expertise, and actively develop your role in the studio and your career.
5. Understanding of Data asset management tools, quality standards, meta tagging and strategies for operational stability and risk mitigation
Commercial Photography Minimum Qualifications:
• Proficient high-level quality, consistency, and accuracy across all images.
• Adherence to studio reference materials and style guides.
• Detail oriented, high-level organizational skills.
• Maintain an acumen for merchandising and styling of product without ‘Stylist’ assistance.
• Able to work in a high paced, high-volume environment.
• Capable to prioritize and reprioritize as charges occur.
• Initiative to fill needs or delegate as demands occur.
• Liaison with subject-matter experts to ensure images are accurate and in line with style guides.
• Work with the Merchandise Coordinator and Retouching Manager to ensure image quality. Reshoot as needed.
• Utilize tools to track and analyze image production to understand production averages and strategize with your team to meet goals.
o Stay focused and on task to achieve production goals.
o Work as part of a team to achieve goals both individually and as a department.
Skills:
• Take lead and initiative to train junior staff.
• Provide insights on art direction, take initiative on styling, and utilize MacGyvering to provide solutions when equipment is lacking.
• Strong Knowledge of 35mm DSLR photographic Systems.
• 3 Years of commercial, production, product photography.
• PC navigational understanding for use of some legacy systems.
• Studio Light shaping tool use and technique.
• Software: MS Excel, Adobe Photoshop, Phase One Capture One.

To be able to:
1. Analyze imaging needs and to share relevant information with appropriate individuals, teams, leaders, etc., to solve business operational problems.

4. Actively listen to others, seek to support, provide constructive feedback, ideas/recommendations.
Photography Equipment
Possesses knowledge of:
1. Use and utility of equipment, techniques, and software;
2. Troubleshoot images, photographic equipment, and computers.
To be able to carry out the following responsibilities:
1. Choose cameras, lenses, lighting, light shaping tools, techniques, and software appropriate to ensure that photos meet requirements for great quality and targeted production goals.
2. Troubleshoot computers, cameras, networks, and any other technology needed to achieve quality and quantity targets. Understand when to access and how to find support.
3. Advise on advances that may improve your team and the company.
4. Clean and store photography equipment as needed.
Photo Composition
Possesses knowledge of:
1. Styling and style guide standards;
2. Lighting and composition techniques;
3. Subject preparation, styling, and staging.
To be able to carry out the following responsibilities:
1. Select appropriate light, angle, composition, camera, lens and, depth of field to maintain or enhance the brand style guides and standards.
2. Utilize Fibonacci, golden ratio, negative space other compositional techniques to educate and entertain customers.
3. Leverage software to maintain compositional alignment for daily production for an improved customer experience by educating and entertaining via great image composition and clarity.
Nice to haves:
• Lifestyle photography and Merchandising/ Stylist experience.
• Working understanding of the photographic analog process; chemistry, physics, mechanical dynamics, the influence on digital image manipulation, and an interest in embracing the latest technology prior to mainstream acceptance.
