Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Buyer Assistant to support our Purchasing Department. This role works closely with Buyers and serves as a key liaison between Purchasing and other departments, including Accounting and Warehouse Operations. The Buyer Assistant plays a critical role in maintaining accurate data, organizing documentation, and ensuring efficient communication with internal teams and suppliers.
What you'll do:
- Cross-check systems to ensure data accuracy and consistency
- Support communication between Buyers and suppliers
- Accurately enter receiving and purchasing data into internal systems
- Organize and maintain records including contracts, memos, and reports
- Ensure timely responses to communications and maintain well-organized, accessible documentation
- Support the VP of Purchasing and Buyers in day-to-day purchasing operations.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in planning purchases to meet customer demand.
- Communicate with vendors to confirm product details, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Track market trends and compile reports to inform purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with warehouse and quality control teams to ensure product quality and resolve issues.
- Handle administrative responsibilities such as purchase orders, records, and reports to keep the department running smoothly.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Some exposure to purchasing, supply chain, or foodservice industry preferred
