SUMMARY OF ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR - TENURE TRACK

The Assistant or Associate Professor – Tenure Track teaching responsibilities include didactic, clinical, lab, and simulation instruction within the content area of expertise and as needed in the undergraduate nursing programs. Additionally, faculty will demonstrate meaningful service commitments to the School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, University, and/or the community at large and academic advising. To hold this appointment, the candidate must demonstrate continued and successful progress toward a scholarly agenda in their field with successful dissemination of research. This is a full-time on-campus/in-person position. Workload requirements may be negotiated with the candidate and Dean.

SUMMARY OF ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE - NON-TENURE TRACK

The Assistant or Associate Professor of Practice’s teaching responsibilities include didactic, clinical, lab, and simulation instruction within the content area of expertise and as needed in the undergraduate nursing programs. Additionally, faculty will demonstrate meaningful service commitments to the School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, University, and/or the community at large and academic advising. To hold this appointment, the candidate must maintain up-to-date knowledge via ongoing clinical practice and/or completion of continuing education activities that enhance teaching practice-based skills and scholarship that focuses on evidenced-based practice (in compliance with University, College of Health Sciences, and School of Nursing policies). This is a full-time on-campus/in-person position. Practice requirements and workload requirements may be negotiated with the candidate and Dean.

 

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).

Education

  • Masters Degree in Nursing.
  • For the Tenure Track position, the candidate must have an earned doctoral degree within 12 months of employment.

Licenses/Certifications/Credentials

  • Unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Indiana.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Deliver courses with clear outcomes, meaningful assignments, and transparent, timely assessment.   
  • Model effective teaching and professionalism.
  • Manage inclusive and responsive learning environments.
  • Attend and participate collaboratively in department and faculty meetings.
  • Be flexible and responsive in teaching and conduct office hours weekly, posted in the course for students.
  • Coordinate the use of academic coaches as necessary based on course enrollments.
  • Follow the guidance and direction of supervisor(s).
  • Demonstrate respectful, ethical, responsible behavior.
  • Abide by the University’s policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies.
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned.
