Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Deliver high-impact, inclusive instruction in Data Science at undergraduate and graduate levels, and contribute to instruction of core mathematics offerings (e.g. general education mathematics, calculus, linear algebra, statistics).
- Develop and revise cutting-edge programs in support of both Data Science and Mathematics curricula.
- Serve in leadership positions in Data Science and/or Mathematics, as needed.
- Engage and mentor students through experiential learning, undergraduate research, and capstone/master’s thesis supervision.
- Maintain an active program of scholarship, including research, publications, conference presentations, and grant development.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration across departments, institutions, and external partners.
- Contribute to service at the program, school, and college-wide levels. Support Ramapo College’s mission, vision, and values as a public liberal arts college.
Organizational Security Responsibilities: This position requires adherence to the organization's
information security policies and procedures. All employees share responsibility for protecting the
confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the organization’s mission essential IT assets, regardless of
role. Individuals in this role are expected to apply appropriate safeguards, participate in required security
awareness training, and promptly report potential security incidents in accordance with institutional
policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. degree in a related field (completed by time of appointment). Candidates with interdisciplinary backgrounds who demonstrate strong expertise in data science/artificial intelligence/big data are encouraged to apply.
- Evidence of excellence or potential in high impact teaching across both data science and mathematics curricula.
- Demonstrated research productivity (publications, conference presentations, or substantial professional engagement).
- Ability to support graduate program development and supervise master’s thesis projects.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive pedagogy and mentoring students from various backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Significant applied or industry experience in data science, machine learning, AI, or analytics.
- Success in securing external funding (grants, contracts, or industry partnerships).
- Experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
- Experience or interest in online/hybrid instruction or educational technology.
- Record of community or external partnerships and engagement.
- Ability to teach or develop advanced or emerging undergraduate and graduate data science courses.
