The NNU Department of Computer Science and Math offers the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts in both Computer Science and Mathematics. Specific to Computer Science, there are optional concentrations in Cybersecurity and Data Science/Artificial Intelligence, as well as minors in Computer Science and Cybersecurity, along with a second teaching field in Computer Science. NNU has built a high-quality Computer Science program over the past 35 years, with strong support from both the university and regional high-tech companies. NNU Computer Science has approximately 40 majors and minors with a faculty of two. The department is housed in the Thomas Health & Science building and the Wiley Learning Center, with excellent teaching and research labs, classrooms, and faculty offices. Plans are underway to expand the program with additional Computer Science faculty members, enabling the department to begin offering a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence as well as an adult degree completion accelerated bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science-related discipline. The small student-to-faculty ratio and traditional, residential campus provide for close faculty/student interactions and enhanced learning. NNU CS has vibrant interdisciplinary research programs underway with programs in Ecoinformatics, Bioinformatics, Economics, and Archaeology, with significant research funding recently obtained from the National Science Foundation, US Forest Service, and National Institutes of Health.

Description of Position

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in Computer Science beginning fall of 2026.

Essential Duties:

• Teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses from throughout the Computer Science curriculum. Ability to teach courses in Data Science/Artificial Intelligence is desired
• Advising graduate and undergraduate students
• Mentoring both senior and master students’ capstone projects
• Contribute to curriculum review, development, and assessment efforts within the Mathematics and Computer Science Department
• Establishment and maintenance of an active program of research/scholarship
• Inclusion of graduate and undergraduate students in research projects
• Participation in university faculty governance
• Active participation in the life of the department and university
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field. Applicants who are ABD in a Ph.D. program will be considered as will candidates with an MS in Computer Science or a related field who also have significant associated experience
• Experience teaching graduate and/or undergraduate students and a commitment to teaching in a Christian liberal arts university
• An active research agenda and normal institutional service are desired and necessary for promotion and tenure
• Ability to read, write, and effectively communicate in the English language

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of professional experience in software development, project management, data science/AI, cybersecurity or another CS/IT field

Compensation

The salary will be determined based on the educational background and experience of the candidate.
