McGovern Medical School atUTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time Pediatric Hematologist to join a combined Adult-Pediatric Hematology practice group as an Assistant or Associate Professor commensurate with experience. The candidate must be a qualified clinician-scholar who will advance our clinical practice, research, and educational missions. The group provides outpatient and inpatient care to classical hematology patients for UTHealth Houston and the Gulf States Hemophilia and Thrombophilia Center.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Clinical:

  • Staff three half-day clinic sessions each week among General Hematology, Bleeding Disorders, Thrombosis, and Sickle Cell clinics

  • Provide 13 weeks of inpatient consultation services

  • Provide direction to Nurses, MA’s, and NPs in a collaborative manner

Educational/Teaching:

  • Provide education and mentorship for medical students, residents, and fellows taking Pedi Hematology rotation

  • Participate in Departmental and Divisional case conferences and seminars

Research:

  • Participate in clinical research trials as needed

  • Contribute data to CDC, HRSA, and ATHN grants

  • Utilize existing or expand lab facilities to further research in areas of bleeding disorders and thrombosis

  • Explore collaborative possibilities with other hematologic clinical/research/educational programs within the Medical Center with the goal of increasing extramural funding

Administrative:

  • As assigned by the Division Head

Other:

  • Participate in departmental committees as deemed appropriate by Departmental Chair and or Division Head


Qualifications:

  • Texas Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Faculty Temporary License.

  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
