The Department of Neurology at LSU Health Shreveport invites applications for

Clinician-Scientists and Scientists as full-time, tenure-track faculty positions at the rank

of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.


Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center at Shreveport (LSUHS) is an academic medical center made up of the Schools of Medicine, School of Health Professions, and Graduate School. The mission of the Department of Neurology is not only to provide excellent and compassionate care for all patients with neurologic disease (Heal), and educate the future generation of medical professionals in Neurology

(Teach), but also to deliver cutting-edge basic, translational, and clinical research in

Neurology (Discover).


Role Description

Under the leadership of the new Neurology Chair, Dr. Chen Lin, and Vice Chair of Research and Director of The Institute for Cerebrovascular and Neuroregeneration Research (ICNR), Dr. Quanguang Zhang, the department is undergoing rapid growth in research. Our faculty are engaged in cutting-edge research spanning cerebrovascular and neuroregenerative diseases, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, neurological and psychiatric disorders, as well as pharmacological and non-invasive therapeutic

approaches. These efforts aim to elucidate disease pathogenesis and guide the

development of mechanistic studies and novel therapeutic strategies for brain injury

and neurodegenerative diseases.


Successful candidates will be expected to establish and sustain an independent, extramurally funded research program. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong record of scholarship and demonstrated expertise in cerebrovascular science, neurobiology, neuroscience, or neurodegenerative diseases.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

A doctoral degree (MD, PhD, or MD/PhD). A minimum of two years of postdoctoral experience for Ph.D. candidates. A solid record of publications and a clear research focus aligned with the areas listed above. An active NIH grant or equivalent national funding. Additional preferred qualifications include expertise in neurodegeneration, genetics, or electrophysiology/EEG. We offer a competitive salary, an attractive startup
