Job Summary:

If you have experience in Real Estate accounting and would like to support the financials of one of the largest Commercial Real Estate portfolio, this is the group for you! As a Real Estate Assistant Regional Controller, you will work with an experienced group of professionals while overseeing various aspects of real estate financial analysis, accounting, structuring, internal controls, for properties within a specific geographic area. You will also work with investment professional on acquisitions, dispositions and capital re-structures focusing on accounting treatment and execution of transactions on behalf of Real Estate funds and investors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with REA investment team members, joint venture partners and property managers.
  • Perform financial due diligence for acquisitions by working with various Real Estate departments, thirds parties, sellers, Joint Venture partners, legal counsel, etc.
  • Oversight of internal and external resources providing guidance on accounting treatment as well as periodic feedback on quality and thoroughness of work product.
  • Review monthly operating results of investments used for Fund consolidation and pricing. Serve as an escalation point for internal and external resources for monthly reporting issues.
  • Analyze financial statements, various performance returns metrics (IRR, equity multiples, time-weighted returns, etc.) and other financial and operating reports of real estate investments.
  • Broadly interact with independent external auditors, and tax practitioners.
  • Prepare and/or review materials that are valuable for business management efforts, internal stakeholders and investors.
  • Oversight and management of outsourced staff ensuring that responsibilities and deadlines are adhered to.

Requirements, capabilities and skills:

  • 6+ years of Real Estate Accounting
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting
  • Real Estate Industry Experience
  • Understanding of complex real estate investment structures, mortgage documents, development management agreements, partnership agreements, property management and leasing agreements, and purchase and sale agreements.
  • Experience managing consultants and time sensitive deadlines
