Global Alternative Investment Solutions is seeking an individual with the appropriate skills and experience to join its Product Structuring team in support of its J.P. Morgan Alternative Asset Management Hedge Fund Solutions and its Private Credit Solutions Group businesses. 

Job Summary

As a member of our team product structuring team, you will be supporting well-established investment businesses that offer customized hedge fund, private credit, and multi-asset investment solutions to clients around the globe.  You will work closely with an experienced group of professionals and have significant responsibilities for guiding tactical and strategic business initiatives..

Job Responsibilities

  • Structuring investment vehicles and customized separate accounts, including open and closed ended hedge funds-of-funds, private credit funds-of-funds, separately managed accounts, sub-advisory arrangements, and co-investment arrangements, for our primarily institutional global client base.
  • Guiding cross-functional implementation teams organized for new product initiatives.
  • Supporting various aspects of fundraising activities.
  • Liaising directly with underlying investment fund managers to create bespoke investment opportunities for our client accounts.
  • Overseeing various aspects of investment diligence activities.
  • Leading negotiations with underlying investment fund managers to obtain better investment terms for our client accounts.
  • Supporting various aspects of secondary market investments in private credit funds.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills 

  • Qualified attorney with law degree (J.D. or equivalent).
  • 2+ years of legal or tax experience in a law firm, accounting firm or alternative investment firm, structuring/advising on private investment vehicles and accounts.
  • Prior experience in structuring vehicles for hedge funds, private credit funds, funds-of-funds, and/or separately managed accounts, either at a law firm, a hedge fund or fund-of-funds, or similar organization.
  • Good understanding of various hedge fund strategies.
  • Good working knowledge of tax and regulatory implications for client bases and account structures.
  • Understanding of the accounting and operational facets of an investment structure.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills 

  • In addition to being a qualified attorney, education, experience, or professional certification in a complimentary discipline, e.g., CFA, CAIA, tax, or an MBA in a related subject.
  • If from a law firm, desire to use legal skills within a business context and move from being an adviser to one that has direct responsibility for leading and completing projects in a high growth business.
  • Understanding of closed-ended investment structures.
  • Understanding of secondary market purchase and sale transactions involving equity interests in private investment funds.
  • Ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Solid communication and presentation skills.
