About the Role
Printed Solid, Inc., a member of the Prusa Research family, is looking for a focused Manufacturing Operator to join our production team. In this role, you are the engine of our manufacturing process, responsible for the end-to-end assembly of world-class 3D printers.
You will work in a high-velocity environment where technical precision and discipline are paramount. Your goal is to ensure every machine leaving your station is built to exact specifications, maintaining the high quality and reliability that the Prusa name represents.
Essential Functions & Key Results
To meet our production goals, this role is responsible for delivering the following:
High-Velocity Assembly & Technical Precision
- Essential Task: Swiftly assemble complex 3D printers following strict written procedures without any deviation. You will execute manufacturing workflows exactly as specified, following all instructions from the Manufacturing Lead and strictly adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This includes ensuring proper torque specification usage, correct screw selection and placement, and the safe, effective use of power and hand tools to meet daily production targets.
- Key Result: Consistently meet or exceed the "Units Per Shift" quota while maintaining a personal First-Pass Yield (FPY) of 98% or higher.
Quality Inspection & Rework
- Essential Task: Conduct thorough inspections before, during, and after production. Identify defects such as cosmetic scratches, loose fasteners, or wiring errors. Perform rework as directed by the Lead.
- Key Result: Identify and correct 100% of assembly errors at the station level to prevent defective units from reaching final assembly or packaging.
Operational Discipline & Readiness
- Essential Task: Adhere to the 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM schedule. Be present at the assigned work area by 9:00 AM sharp and follow all directions from the Manufacturing Lead.
- Key Result: Maintain 100% adherence to the daily production schedule and the "Line-Start" protocol.
Safety, Communication & Workplace Upkeep
- Essential Task: Maintain clear communication with the Room Lead regarding workflow issues. Use all tools according to safety standards and maintain a clean, organized "5S" workstation.
- Key Result: 100% compliance with workplace safety standards, resulting in zero (0) preventable safety incidents.
What We Look For:
- Technical Aptitude: High mechanical aptitude and an interest in 3D printing. Ability to follow complex, multi-step written and visual guides.
- Reliability: A proven track record of punctuality and dedication to meeting high-volume production demands.
- Attention to Detail: Extreme focus on quality; the ability to identify minor process deviations or cosmetic defects.
- Experience: Previous experience in mechanical assembly or electronics is preferred, but a "hands-on" attitude and willingness to learn are essential.
- Legal: Must be authorized to work in the US.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Manual Dexterity: Constantly performs repetitive, fine-motor tasks (handling small screws, routing thin wires, using precision tools).
- Movement & Visual: Must be able to stand or sit at an assembly station for the duration of an 8-hour shift. High-detail "near vision" is required to ensure correct placement of tiny components.
- Physical Effort: Ability to lift and position 3D printers weighing up to 50 lbs, with team-lifting efforts beyond this weight.
- Environment: Active manufacturing floor; exposure to white noise and mechanical movement. Requires use of PPE (Safety glasses, etc.).
