Job Description

The Assembler reads and interprets wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and specifications to build and wire devices according to defined standards. This role uses a variety of hand and power tools to perform mechanical and electrical assembly while consistently meeting established productivity and quality expectations. The position requires close collaboration with supervisors and engineers to review work activities and resolve production issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, schematics, and specifications to determine material requirements and assembly steps.
  • Assemble and wire devices in accordance with work instructions, physical drawings, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
  • Use hand and power tools to drill, tap, crimp terminal lugs, cut and strip wire, and install equipment using screwdrivers, wrenches, and sockets.
  • Handle and manipulate small components accurately and efficiently as part of the assembly process.
  • Achieve and maintain the minimum productivity rate as defined by management while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Perform basic math and apply reasoning skills to verify measurements, counts, and assembly requirements.
  • Confer with supervisors and engineers to review work activities, clarify requirements, and resolve production problems.
  • Follow all work instructions, safety guidelines, and quality procedures throughout the assembly process.
  • Maintain a clean and organized individual work station and care properly for tools and equipment.
  • Stand, walk, lift, pull, and push materials and components throughout the entire work shift as needed to complete assignments.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to read and understand point-to-point wiring diagrams, wire lists, and assembly drawings.
  • Proficiency in electrical assembly and mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, including drills, taps, crimpers, screwdrivers, wrenches, and sockets.
  • Basic math and reasoning skills to support accurate assembly and verification.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and stay productive.
  • Good verbal and communication skills to collaborate with supervisors and engineers.
  • Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, pull, and push throughout the entire work shift.
  • Ability to handle and manipulate small components in a detailed assembly process.
  • Experience working from blueprints, schematics, and production documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in production or manufacturing assembly environments.
  • Experience with wiring and electrical assembly using schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with using a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Comfort working at an individual station while meeting defined productivity goals.

Work Environment

The role is based in a temperature-controlled facility, working in a small, quiet room at an individual work station that supports focused, detailed assembly work. Employees may wear earbuds and listen to music while working, as long as it does not interfere with safety or communication needs. The standard schedule runs from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, with two paid 15-minute breaks and one unpaid 30-minute lunch. The dress code requires long pants, an appropriate shirt, and closed-toe shoes to ensure safety and professionalism on the production floor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.
