The Apprenticeship Consultant will serve as the lead technical expert for the development and registration of adult and youth apprenticeships. They will help lead apprenticeship program development for local industries, companies, the technical colleges, and other stakeholders. The Consultant will also assist with outreach and promotion of apprenticeship initiatives and support grant activities. The Apprenticeship Consultant is responsible for proactively generating new opportunities for the promotion and development of registered apprenticeship programs as a workforce development tool in their assigned region of geographic responsibility. Responsible for developing partnerships with local school districts and technical colleges to develop and register apprenticeship programs with U.S. Department of Labor. Consult with company employees and executives and conduct worksite visits to assess the viability of registered apprenticeship as an appropriate tool to meet individual or group employer training needs. Manage the technical assistance process for employers interested in establishing registered apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs and guide program development from start to completion. Identifies informational and financial resources that are available to employer sponsors to assist with the development and sustainability of registered apprenticeship programs in collaboration with stakeholders, develops proposals for employer’s consideration that demonstrate the viability and complexity of possible implementation. Provides regular recommendations to the Apprenticeship Carolina™ team concerning strategic and procedural barriers to regional success and proposes strategies for enhancing overall Initiative success. Represents Apprenticeship Carolina™ at local, regional, and state-level meetings pertaining to registered apprenticeship, workforce development and economic development to promote registered apprenticeship programs.
A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to effectively relay program requirements to diverse stakeholders, including public sector representatives and private sector executives from diverse industry backgrounds. Ability to manage and prioritize the simultaneous development of multiple projects and varied customer cases. Ability to exercise good judgment in coordinating complex program development and relationship management. Ability to relate well to people both inside and outside of the SC Technical College System and to operate in a team environment.
