Role: Apparel Production Manager

Full-time, on-site in Los Angeles, CA (Downtown LA / Arts District)

This is a high-speed, high-pressure production role on a small, lean team. You will own and manage 100% of production from A to Z for our luxury womenswear brand. Production is mostly based in Asia.

The role is approximately 85% manufacturing, fit, and production management and 15% design support. You will be responsible for turning Paris design concepts into flawless finished garments — on time, on budget, and at the highest couture-level quality.

Expect daily late calls (often 6–8 p.m. PT or later), last-minute design changes from Paris, containers stuck at port, and zero tolerance for delays. This is not a 9-to-5 job. It’s for someone who thrives in chaos and delivers results under intense pressure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end production for every style: from receipt of Paris tech packs through sampling, bulk production, quality control, logistics, and final warehouse receipt.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with all factories in China, Vietnam, India, Thailand, and Indonesia. Daily (and often late-night) communication via WeChat, WhatsApp, and calls is non-negotiable.
  • Relentlessly manage and track samples, lab dips, strike-offs, PP samples, and bulk production with zero slippage on deadlines.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with factory owners and management while consistently pushing for faster turnaround, better pricing, and superior quality.
  • Proactively plan production capacity and secure factory slots 12–18 months in advance in a highly competitive Asian manufacturing landscape.
  • Manage all fabric, lace, trim, and embellishment sourcing and purchasing — hitting MOQs, negotiating aggressively, and protecting margins at every step.
  • Rapidly implement complex, last-minute design changes from the Paris studio without impacting delivery dates.
  • Negotiate pricing, surcharges, air freight, payment terms, and all commercial conditions.
  • Handle full logistics: vessel booking, shipment consolidation, customs clearance, cost optimization, and OTIF (on-time, in-full) delivery.
  • Deliver accurate, real-time production reports and cost updates to the Paris creative team and US sales team every Monday morning without exception.
  • Continuously expand our factory network through daily cold outreach and quickly replace any underperforming partners.

You’ll Thrive Here If You Are
  • 1–4+ years of hardcore production experience in luxury or contemporary womenswear (Asia & complex clothing similar to us is a strong plus). -- NOT REQUIRED BUT PREFERRED
  • Already have direct, proven relationships with top-tier factories in India and China. -- NOT REQUIRED BUT PREFERRED
  • Deep expertise in luxury fabrics, embroidery, beading, lace application, silk dyeing, and couture-level construction and quality standards.
  • Exceptional at Excel + Google Sheets — able to build and maintain complex cost sheets, critical paths, and live production trackers in real time.
  • Proven track record of simultaneously reducing costs and lead times while improving quality.
  • Extremely fast thinker and executor who stays calm and solution-oriented under intense pressure.
  • Highly proactive — you anticipate problems 10 steps ahead and eliminate them before they arise.
  • Comfortable working 50–60 hour weeks when required and taking late-night calls without issue.
  • Fluent in English; OPTIONALLY: Mandarin strongly preferred.
