This part time position is primarily responsible for helping to maintain the animal care shelter premises and the animals being housed there.
The nature of the work includes frequently lifting more than 40 lbs, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, standing, and walking. At least half of the work is performed outside.
Ability to work and care for animals that do not always cooperate
Up to 20 hours per week.
Must be available for weekend hours
Must be capable of working on site alone
Most shifts are half days
Part time hours are limited to 1000 hours in a calendar year
Clean, care for and feed animals
Maintain cleanliness of cages/kennels and shelter
Light maintenance work (ex. painting, fence repair, dog house repair)
Responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of all work spaces; including animal control vehicles.
* It is not unusual for all dogs to be barking at the same time. Employees must be able to tolerate the noise.
* All animals are not cooperative. Only Animal Control Officers handle those that are deemed dangerous but ALL employees must be vigilant because an animal's attitude can change.Valid NC Driver's License or reliable means of transportation to work Drug test and background check.
