Anesthesia Technician

  • Assists in setups for all emergent and non-emergent procedures, including open hearts and traumas.
  • Obtains and prepares all equipment needed for transport of critically ill patients and assists in their transport.
  • Assists in lifting and positioning of patients.
  • Assists anesthetist during the induction of anesthesia as required.
  • Orders and picks up local drugs and inhalational agents from Pharmacy.
  • Stocks block carts with needed drugs.
  • Requires knowledge of generic and current trade names of all pharmaceuticals used by the department.
  • Prepares monthly special order supply list as assigned.
  • Stocks and cleans all assigned areas daily.
  • Performs decontamination procedures.
  • Stocks, cleans, and replaces all anesthesia equipment and supplies as necessary.
  • Sets up all special monitoring lines for the Surgical Suite.
  • Operates Level One Rapid Infuser Pump.
  • Changes soda lime in canisters weekly and as needed.
  • Performs leak check procedures and proper disposal of exhausted chemical.
  • Coordinates basic upkeep and maintenance of anesthesia machinery.
  • Sends blood to stat lab for analysis.
  • Performs laboratory procedures for labeling, container selection, lab slip preparation, and techniques for tube operation.
  • Obtains and prepares all equipment needed for transport of critically ill patients and assists in their transport.

  • Maintains all specialty carts in the department.
  • Setup and calibrate machines that are transported to outside areas.
  • Assists with inspection and repair of equipment.
  • Obtains used Medtronic Dual Channel Pacemakers.
  • Cleans pacemakers, changes battery and bags.
  • Ensures pacemakers turn on and are working properly.

  • Hours:Full time, 40 hours a week. Will discuss work schedule during interview.

  • Required education: Must hold a HS diploma or GED.
